Mutable
The end of a season
The mutable signs are the last of each season, the ones that wrap it up and pass it on. They are Gemini (air), Virgo (earth), Sagittarius (fire) and Pisces (water).
What it stands for
- adaptability
- flexibility
- change

What the tradition says
Mutable signs are described as adaptable, flexible and comfortable with change, able to see the other side of an argument and to change their minds. Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury, Sagittarius by Jupiter and Pisces by Jupiter in the older scheme or Neptune in the modern one. The traditional shadow side is restlessness and difficulty in settling on one thing.
The seasons
Each mutable sign comes at the end of a season, as it turns into the next: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
The seasons are those of the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere they are reversed, so a cardinal sign that opens summer in the north opens winter in the south.
Tarot, astrology and numerology are traditions of symbolism. This page says what the tradition associates with its subject. It does not predict anything and it is not advice.
