Air
Communicative, sociable and curious
Air is the element of thought and exchange. Its three signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.
What it stands for
- thought
- communication
- ideas
- society
What the tradition says
The air signs are described as sociable, intellectual and good with words, interested in ideas and in other people's views. They are credited with seeing several sides of a question, which makes them good communicators and sometimes slow decision makers. The shadow side is detachment: a reputation for living in the head.
The three air signs
- Gemini: Mutable air: curious, talkative and adaptable.
- Libra: Cardinal air: fair-minded, charming and drawn to balance.
- Aquarius: Fixed air: independent, inventive and attached to its ideas.
In tarot
Air is the element of the tarot suit of Swords: thought, truth, conflict. Browse every air card, including the major arcana that carry the element.
The natural houses are the places in the chart that match the signs in order: the first house goes with Aries, the second with Taurus, and so on round the wheel. The air houses are the 3rd, 7th and 11th.
Tarot, astrology and numerology are traditions of symbolism. This page says what the tradition associates with its subject. It does not predict anything and it is not advice.
