What the tradition says
Capricorn is described as ambitious, disciplined and realistic, a sign that builds slowly and expects to be judged on results. Saturn, its ruler, adds seriousness and a respect for structure. The traditional shadow side is severity and being hard to impress.
Where it fits
As a cardinal sign, Capricorn opens a season in the Northern Hemisphere. Its element, earth, is shared with Taurus and Virgo.
In tarot
The Golden Dawn tradition, which most modern tarot decks follow, links Capricorn with The Devil, Two of Pentacles, Three of Pentacles and Four of Pentacles. The court cards of the suit that shares its element, Pentacles, are also loosely linked with it.
The dates are the usual tropical ones and shift by a day either way from year to year. People born close to a boundary should look at cusps.
Tarot, astrology and numerology are traditions of symbolism. This page says what the tradition associates with its subject. It does not predict anything and it is not advice.
