Major arcana
The twenty-two trumps
The twenty-two major arcana, numbered 0 to 21 from the Fool to the World, are the large, named cards of the deck. Read together they trace a journey from innocence to completion, and a major card in a reading is usually taken to point to something weighty: a theme that is bigger than the week it turns up in.
