Juno

Asteroid of commitment: what it stands for in astrology

Juno was discovered in 1804 and is named for the Roman queen of the gods, the wife of Jupiter and the guardian of marriage. It is one of the four asteroids used by modern astrologers.

What it stands for

  • marriage
  • commitment
  • partnership
  • loyalty

In the birth chart

In the birth chart Juno is read through its sign and house as the qualities a person looks for in a partner, and how they handle commitment. Its aspects are said to show how bonds are formed with partners, friends and family.

The name and the myth

Juno, the Greek Hera, was the goddess of marriage and the protector of married women. Her marriage to Jupiter was famously difficult, which is why the asteroid is read for the challenges of commitment as well as its rewards.

How astrology reads it

The traditional pairings are short. Juno in Aries looks for a partner who is exciting and independent. In Taurus it looks for comfort and security. In Gemini, for conversation and freedom. In Cancer, for home and loyalty. In Virgo, for a practical and thoughtful partner. In Pisces, for an idealistic and compassionate one.

Tarot, astrology and numerology are traditions of symbolism. This page says what the tradition associates with its subject. It does not predict anything and it is not advice.
